A 2-Day All Pakistan DICE Energy and Wsater 2016 with theme “Conserve Energy and Water for Green Pakistan” arranged by Centre for Energy, Research and Development (CERAD) University of Energy and Technology Lahore was concluded at main campus.
Provincial Minister for Mines and Mineral Ch. Sher Ali was the chief guest of closing ceremony. While talking to the attendees he said that government is making efforts to improve the situation of energy and water through many projects for production of energy by utilising all available resources. It is also included in the priority list of tasks for the welfare of masses. He also stated that industry in suffered due to shortage of energy and increasing demand of it also challenging for administration. The minister termed CPEC as great blessing for Pakistan to overcome the issues specifically in energy sector.
All stakeholders particularly academia should come forwarded to provide the technical assistance to energy and water concerned public offices. He appreciated the remarkable input of UET for country by producing practitioners in engineering and others scientific sectors. At the moment, Vice Chancellor UET Lahore Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid talked that industry and agriculture the major segments of rogress are completely dependent on energy and water which are the Core needs for development. For conservation and alternate energy like solar, wind and coal the sense of realization must be activated for strengthening the concept of Green Pakistan. It is collective responsibility of all to contribute in settlement of problems related energy and water in respective domain to ensure the deliverance. And expressed hope that the valuable recommendations
emerged in result of technical sessions would be helpful for authorities to manage the issues. Director CERAD Prof. Dr. Waqar Mahmood gave presentation to participants into introduction, history and functions of CERAD and KICS distinctively in energy and overview of 2-day event with its significance. Chairman Distinguished Innovations Collaboration and Entrepreneurship Foundation (DICE) Ubaidullah stressed upon that all concerned quarters may be taken on board in policy making and implementation about energy and water. Minister Ch Sher Ali visited stalls arranged by different industrial units in exhibition. In the end, He distributed prizes among winners of project competition and presented shields to guests, organizers and the participants of the events.
